Cycle LAB Studio is located within Lab Sports Performance. It is conveniently located right off of the Greenway at 1824 9th Street SE, Roanoke, VA 24013. If you are feeling invigorated or particularly “green” you can walk, run or bike to Cycle LAB as a warm-up to your indoor training and conditioning session.
How do I get started?
Cycle LAB features a convenient online reservation system that makes reservations and payment a breeze. There is no longer the need to worry about racing to the gym to ensure you get a bike. Once you reserve a bike online, your bike is guaranteed to be there for you.
How do I purchase a ride?
Clients may opt to drop in and pay for each ride, or utilize our online reservation system where payment per ride goes down with the purchase of ride packages or monthly memberships. Clients are always welcome to pay by cash or check at Lab Sports Performance.
How do I sign up for a class?
In order to place a reservation, you must first buy a series.
To buy a series, you can either sign up for a username and password and purchase a series online, or if you already have a username and password click LOGIN, to buy a series and make your reservation.
When can I sign up for a class?
Every Sunday at 12pm, the booking window opens for the coming two weeks. Monthly members have a 1 week pre-booking window.
What if a class is full?
If a class is full, you can put yourself on the waitlist. If a bike opens up in that class, you will be placed in the class and notified via email.
How far in advance do I have to cancel a reservation to avoid a penalty?
You must cancel a class 3 hours before your scheduled class to avoid a penalty. If you are unable to cancel 3 hours prior to the class you have reserved, you will forfeit 1 ride credit.
Drop-in and Bike Release Policy
You can always walk in without a reservation, and if there are bikes available, you can pay for a single ride or purchase a ride card. If you reserve a bike in advance, please be on time for class! Empty bikes will be released to drop-in riders 5 minutes after the start of each class.
Do my credits expire?
No. Credits never expire.
Can I buy a gift certificate for a friend?
Absolutely! Just ask about it in the studio. You can purchase classes as well as specific dollar amounts as gifts.
What should I expect for my first class?
Try to arrive 15 minutes early for your first class so that your instructor has adequate time to fit you on the bike to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. You don’t need to know how to ride a bike to take an indoor cycling class. You control your own workout – gears, pace and energy. You can pace the workout to suit your own ability. Remember, Cycle LAB classes are for ALL fitness levels. There is a place for everyone.
What should I wear to class?
You can plan to sweat a lot, so comfortable workout clothes are recommended. Participants often find bike shorts or athletic capris to be most comfortable for riding. Shorts or pants that don’t “ride” up would be a good choice.
Do I need bike shoes?
You do not need bike shoes. You can war a gym shoes or any other hard soled athletic shoe. Bike shoes with SPD clips are recommended but not necessary. Indoor cyclers often find bike shoes beneficial and more comfortable than athletic shoes. This is mainly because they allow the rider a smooth and fluid pedal stroke.
What do I need to bring to class?
You will definitely need water! Bring a water bottle or you can purchase one at Lab Sports Performance. Towels are provided.
What if I have to leave early, or I can’t do part of the class?
Of course you may leave early. You paid for the class and are entitled to stop participating in the class whenever you choose. Just be careful not to interrupt the class when exiting the studio if class is in session. Everybody has a busy schedule and Cycle LAB respects your time commitments.
How do I know if I am improving and how do I track my performance over time?
Once you have your own account and pre-select your bike using our online reservation system, certain performance metrics like RPM, Power and Energy will be saved in the My Stats section of your account. By tracking your performance history you will be able to set personal goals and measure your results over time. If you are not interested in the numbers, just close your eyes and enjoy the ride!
Is cycling a good exercise for burning calories?
Indoor cycling is one of the most efficient and effective workouts you can do. Not only can you burn 400-800 calories (depending on your weight), you get the bonus of toning your glutes, hamstrings, quads and core!
